Karen is a British artist who has been living and working around the world for almost 16 years. Originally from a design background Karen left the Uk in 1993 in search of a new home and in order to develop and evolve her passions – drawing and painting.
Initially she spent 10 months based in Natal, South Africa. Shortly after arriving in Thailand she headed south to the Island of Koh Samui. It was here she began her 5 years of fruitful collaboration. The body of work created was inspired by the coastline and in particular a deep rooted love of nature. The work centered on form and nature’s arrangement and placement – revealing what she considered to be the soul and essence of these forms.
With a move from the coast to the city of Bangkok, she discovered urban beauty. Reflections mirrored in adjacent buildings, revealed shapes and colors that created subtle symbols. In addition the contrast of windows and architectural details fueled further inspiration for her work.
Now she finds herself in a new land, the Eastern coast of Australia. After following her dream to train and become a Yoga teacher, she is currently exploring the connections of her recent travels to India and her new home. Once again continuing the inner journey to rediscover and reveal the radiant inner child at play.
